Charles Thomas Wade Williams and Emma Lucille Taylor were married on October 1, 1922. They enjoyed a long and happy married life and were the parents of eleven children and 21 grandchildren. In 1992, there were 9 great grandchildren.

They were both descended from Elijah Moore and Mary Sessums of Edgecombe County and were fourth cousins. C.T. Williams was the great grandson of Samuel Moore. Lucille was the great granddaughter of Samuel's brother, Theophilus.

They lived most of their adult lives in or near Rocky Mount in Edgecombe County. C.T. was a paint and floor finishing contractor, and Lucille devoted her entire life to raising a large family. They were devoted to each other and were proud of their children
